Domain Name
Domain name is the name we write in the toolbar of explorer,
in order to visit a site. For every web site this name is
unique. It is the application of the idea of the University
of Wisconsin,
which created the Domain Name System (DNS), in 1983 that
made the life of the internet users easier, because they
do not
need to remember IP numbers but only a name with Latin characters.
The domain name has the form www.name.ending (per example
www.internetinfo.gr). The different endings have been created
in order the various
web sites to be put in categories (per example the ending .gr
is for a site from Greece). But this rule does not stand always.
In order to register a domain name, you have to address to
someone who makes registrations of domain names. The registration
is
made by private companies, something that happens also in Greece.
It is valid for two years and the cost depends on the company.
The competition of the free market though has waned the cost
and from 52 Euros, which was the price that University of Crete
charged- it was the first that made registrations- for two
years, now there are prices that start from 20 euros.

you can see a link with a web site of the most reliable cheap
Greek companie that make registrations of domain names.

We
support the idea of the internet being free for everyone
and at high speed. The cost can thus be covered by the
countries and companies active within its trading sector. |
