Blogs?
During
the last few months there has been a lot of talk for the so-called
"blogs". Lately, the media have
discovered them too. But what exactly are they? Well, they are
actually
web pages which are renewed on a constant basis, sometimes even
daily. They have information on a subject and are usually utilised
as daily diaries as well, referring to the personal lives and
interests of their authors. Blogs are widely used for the expression
of political beliefs and for general comments about society.
Moreover, companies are using them in order to inform people
who are interested and also give the chance to their personnel
or collaborators to express their opinions. In reality, however,
blogs are whatever their author wants them to be. They became
very popular with GOOGLE, which enabled people who had nothing
to do with web page design to actually create their own blog,
with a service called –very rightly so - Blogger.
But where do blogs come from? No one can tell for sure. Around
the mid 90’s there were some web pages with links and personal
comments, which can be regarded as the first ever blogs. Real
blogging, however, begun in 1999. In the beginning they were
in the form of organised instructions for surfing on the internet,
but they gradually evolved to today’s blogs with the constantly
renewed content. Whether under the light of a trend or a new
way of communicating over the internet, blogs do deserve our
attention. Their future seems bright and the constantly fresh
information makes them very useful and of a great importance
for internet users and search engines. There are a lot of companies
offering on line tools for the creation of blogs and free hosting,
as well as search engines dedicated to blogs only. However, I
still remain a fan of Google’s blogger. On the other hand, if
you have a website, you can easily construct a web page with
an HTML editor and format it in that way, by constantly renewing
your personal blog.
